General Skilled Migration (GSM) visas are points-based visas. The process starts by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the relevant GSM visa subclass. To apply, you must choose an occupation listed on either the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL), depending on the visa type. You also need to pass a points test and wait for an invitation to apply for the visa. GSM visas can be applied for and granted whether you are inside or outside Australia.

This is Permanent Residency which is ideal for 491 visa holders seeking transition to permanent residency under subclass 191. 

6. Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa (Subclass 494)

The Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Subclass 494) Visa is a temporary employer-sponsored visa aimed at addressing skill shortages in regional Australia. It allows skilled workers, nominated by an approved employer, to live and work in a designated regional area for up to five years, with the option to include eligible family members and a pathway to permanent residency.
